Au naturel doesn’t have to mean low-key. This spring is all about a perspective shift on neutrals. On runways and beyond, sheer textures and nude shades are transformed through sharp execution and extreme saturation, taking them into territories favoured by the bold. M•A•C Loud and Clear reveals the power of earth tones with a lineup offered in transparent packaging for ultimate clarity of self-expression.

The range includes eight single Eye Shadows in sunbaked browns, creamy camels and apricots; five Lipglass shades in a spectrum from the sheerest of nudes to the deepest aubergine; five universally flattering Lipsticks and two limited-edition Extra Dimension Skinfinish compacts in shimmery pewter and burnished bronze.

Cheer Up MAC Cheer Up Glow Play Blush ($30.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium coral with subtle, pink-leaning and moderately warm undertones paired with a satin sheen. There was very faint and fine pearl throughout, so it didn’t have a full-on matte finish but did not appear overly shimmery either. The texture was smooth to the touch and malleable where I could push against the surface and get a lasting indent, but it didn’t have the traditional wetness of a true cream blush. It felt more like powder once it came into contact with my skin, and I didn’t have issues with the product lifting up base products when I patted this over my liquid foundation. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a fingertip and more semi-sheer, buildable coverage with a brush. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly. The lipstick yielded medium color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and didn’t settle into or emphasize my lip lines, despite being a creamier, more emollient formula.
