Natasha Denona Bloom Blush & Glow Palette Review & Swatches

Bloom

Natasha Denona Bloom Blush & Glow Palette ($55.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a new cheek palette that includes a cream highlighter, cream blush, powder highlighter, and powder blush. It’s a more edited take on the brand’s larger, six-pan Cheek Palettes that I raved about last year. All four shades performed well, and they layered well together in various combinations (cream with cream, powder with powder, a mix, and all together). I didn’t find that the four shades created as much contrast/variety in overall looks compared to the larger Citurs and Darya palettes, but the quality of the four here was fantastic. I’d love to see Natasha Denona release a whole line of the Duo Glows as a standalone product range.

Peach

Peach is a soft, pinky-coral base with very fine, golden pearl. It’s supposed to be “buildable” to allow for layering (and it did layer well with the other products in the palette). It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation–at most, mostly opaque–but as it is a light color, it wasn’t like boom! pigment (and never would be). It had a soft, subtle glow that was glass-like and never shimmery or pore-emphasizing.

It applied well over bare skin as well as over cream/liquid foundation (I tried Too Faced Born This Way and Tom Ford Traceless Stick with it). The texture was lightly tacky initially with a firmer, denser consistency that I felt I had to dig at a bit with my stippling brush to pick up product. It seemed to yield a bit better after a few uses. The product applied evenly, spread and diffused with little effort, and wore well for nine hours on me before it started to fade a bit.

Ingredients

Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Mica, Trimethylsiloxyphenyl Dimethicone, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Silica, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Copernicia Cerifera Cera (Copernicia Cerifera (Cernauba) Wax), Aluminum Hydroxide, Tin Oxide

Fuchsia

Fuchsia is rich, raspberry red with cool, pink undertones and fine, golden micro-shimmer. It had a subtle, satiny finish when applied and buffed out–not overtly shimmery but not flat or matte. For as intense as the shade was, it applied and diffused incredibly easily, though it tended to look more like a pop of bluish-pink rather than the deeper red it appeared in the pan. The consistency was lightly creamy, almost a touch tacky in the pan, but it didn’t seem to remain wet or tacky on my skin. It stayed on well for over 10 hours with minimal fading.

For more true-to-pan color on cheeks, I’d recommend applying a sheer layer to get the overall shape of the color and then applying more heavily just where you want the most intense color and coverage, then gently buffing the edge of that with the first layer. I felt like that method gave me control over intensity but ensured I didn’t end up spreading and diffusing product on half my face as the blush was just so blendable!

Ingredients

Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Mica, Polyurethane 44, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Copernicia Cerifera Cera (Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax), Candelilla Cera (Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax), Silica, Dimethicone, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aluminum Hydroxide,

Light Rose

Light Rose is a light-medium peach with warm, golden undertones and flecks of pink and gold micro-sparkle. At times, it seemed more sparkle than base pigment, but when I applied it to my cheeks and blended out the powder, it gave me a subtle blush with a moderate sheen with faint sparkle. It didn’t seem quite as sparkly on my skin and seemed to have a smoother, less glittery finish overall, though I’d say it had moderate sheen rather than an “extreme” one. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation (it was described as “buildable”) that applied evenly and blended out with little effort. The highlighter lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before starting to fade slightly.

Ingredients

Talc, Aluminum Calcium Sodium Silicate, Calcium Titanium Borosilicate, Diisostearyl Malate, Dimethicone, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Zinc Stearate, Polybutene, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Mica, Caprylyl Glycol, Tin Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Hexylene Glycol

Vibrant Coral & Golden

Vibrant Coral & Golden is a bright, medium-dark pink-coral with lots of golden shimmer and a metallic sheen. There also seemed to be faint, almost violet-hued shimmer at times. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that was dense without being too firmly pressed in the pan. It appeared more orange in the pan, slightly orange at an angle when applied, but it was predominantly a pink-coral on me.

The blush applied easily over my skin, blended out as I applied it, and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture, though it had shiny, lightly metallic finish. Applying the cream blush only brought out the pink tones of the Duo Glow, while layering on the powder highlighter amplified the finish and made it shinier. Alone, the blush wore beautifully for nine hours on me before fading a bit.
