Clinique Warm Up Cheek Pop Palette Review & Swatches

Warm Up

Clinique Warm Up Cheek Pop Palette ($29.50 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition trio of blushes with warmer undertones. The three shades performed consistently with the Cheek Pop formula: denser, firmer textures that work better with moderately dense brushes, but then they go on effortlessly, blend seamlessly, and have a skin-like finish that sits well on skin.

Blush Pop

Blush Pop is a light-medium pink with soft, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had buildable coverage from semi-opaque to opaque. The texture felt smooth to the touch, dense and a bit firmer, so it would work best with a denser brush. There was no powderiness, and the powder applied evenly and blended out seamlessly for a skin-like finish. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

$21.00/0.12 oz. - $175.00 Per Ounce

The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” The texture was smooth, soft, and dense, so it was never powdery in the pan or on the skin. The blush had good color payoff that was easily sheered out (or you could apply less, as the denser texture makes that easy to control). It’s the kind of texture that almost blends itself as soon as you start applying and working it onto the skin. The finish became more luminous as I blended the powder onto the skin, but it was never shiny or overly shimmery, so it always looked smooth on my skin and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s texture. Most shades lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

Sorbet Pop

Sorbet Pop is a very light peach with strong, warm orange undertones and a luminous finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was denser, firmer in the pan but smooth and never powdery. With this type of formula, I’d recommend using a moderately dense, more flat/dome-shaped brush, to pick up product, but the product goes on beautifully on skin–even, smooth coverage that almost blends itself. The color lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Cola Pop

Cola Pop is a rich, reddened plum with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It was richly pigmented–it’s one of the deepest-hued shades in the Cheek Pop formula, and it is part of the permanent range–but the denser texture made it easy to pick up less product if desired. The powder was smooth to the touch, firm without being stiff or difficult to work with, as the product applied well to bare skin and blended out with little effort. It stayed on nicely for nine hours on me before I noticed any fading.
