NARS Silver Screen Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Silver Screen
NARS Silver Screen Eyeshadow Quad ($52.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a new(ish) set of shades for a classic, silvery smoky eye, but it had a slight twist–there was a pewter shade that was much warmer compared to the other three shades, yet it wasn’t a distinctively warm-toned shade. The quality of three of the four shades was decent to good, while one fell a bit short for me (though not in a way that was a deal-breaker, I’d expect).
Silver Screen #1
Silver Screen #1 is a dirty, pewter with neutral-to-cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth consistency that was easy to blend out. The eyeshadow applied evenly to my lid and stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Formula Overview
$19.00/0.04 oz. - $475.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "rich, high-impact color" that is "lightweight" and has "increased blendability." Like most larger ranges, there are winners and losers, and some of how they perform can be related to the type of finish. The mattes are soft, slightly dusty in the pans (or not at all) with medium to opaque, often buildable, color coverage. The satin and metallics tend to be smoother, more blendable, and more pigmented with less effort; NARS does the these lower shimmer finishes particularly well, which just looks "melted" on the skin as they lay down so smoothly and have a great shine.
Most shades applied better on my lid than swatched on my arm, which has been something seen across NARS' eyeshadows for years and didn't change with the recent update to their powder eyeshadow formula. On average, they lasted between seven and nine hours on me without primer. They did apply well over primer and stayed on well for 14 hours with minimal fading.
Worth noting: the updated formula and packaging resulted in a product decrease from 0.07 oz. per pan to 0.04 oz. The single eyeshadows received a more noticeable price drop (from $24 to $19) but the duo eyeshadows could be priced better (from $36 to $35).

Silver Screen #2
Silver Screen #2 is a deep black with a mostly matte finish and neutral-to-cool undertones. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out with ease–the latter being so key to a good go-to matte black eyeshadow! The texture felt a little dusty in the pan, but I didn’t have any issues with it during application. It wore well for eight hours before I noticed any fading on me.

Silver Screen #3
Silver Screen #3 is a bright, pale silver with cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had good pigmentation that adhered evenly to bare skin, but it needed a second layer or to be used with a dampened brush to get to opaque coverage. The consistency felt a touch drier to me, so it took a bit of extra time to really diffuse the color along the edges. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before it started to fade noticeably.

Silver Screen #4
Silver Screen #4 is a pale white with a pearly sheen. The texture felt drier and came away almost in clumps as a result, so I had to be careful when using it to avoid getting too product dislodged from the surface. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable on my lid. This shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.
