Natasha Denona Palette 09 Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Palette 09
Natasha Denona Palette 09 Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.40 oz.) is a dirty, pewter and green kind of color story with five, shimmery shades; two of the shades seemed to have finer sparkle to them as well. The shades have changed both in texture but in some instances, in color as well, in the current iteration of the palette compared to the original launch of the shades. The actual performance was significantly better than I originally experienced, though.
Back story: I purchased all of the 5-pan palettes a few months ago to re-review because if there’s a brand that has a more constant, evolving formula… it is Natasha Denona (the ingredient list is substantially different today compared to the original release and even from a few years ago). I have better experiences with the more updated formulas, so it seemed like a good way to test the current formula as well as get updated swatches. This week, the brand is running buy one, get one free on the 5-pan palettes… so… here we are… frantically reviewing them! Leave a comment with which one of the original 13 you are most desperate to see re-reviewed, and I will endeavor to make it so!

Ingredients
Industrial (45M)
Industrial (45M) is a muted, medium-dark pewter with warmer undertones and cooler silver and green shimmer and micro-sparkle. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, and it applied well to bare skin with good adhesion and blendability. The texture was soft, slightly drier to the touch as it seemed to have more noticeable sparkle, but the actual powder was rather smooth and lightly creamy (but not overly emollient). It wore well for eight and a half hours on me but had a smidgen of fallout over time.
The current formula seemed to be slightly deeper, but it was more sparkly where I felt like the shimmer/sparkle “popped” a little more.

Formula Overview
$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce
The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Indian Gold (44M)
Indian Gold (44M) is a light, muted gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented, while the texture was soft, smooth, and not too firmly nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so it was easy to pick up and to apply without fear of fallout. The powder seemed to “melt” onto my lid for a very seamless, more glowing finish. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.
The current version is slightly deeper, though applied, blended out, and in a moderate amount of lighting, the difference wasn’t noticeable at all. The texture was also thinner and a bit firmer in the pan, but it had better longevity.

Glam Green (18M)
Glam Green (18M) is a bright, light gray with cooler undertone and warmer, green-gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It had opaque color coverage in one layer, which applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of color. The texture was soft, smooth, and dense without being too firmly pressed into the pan nor was it too thick. It was creamy enough to blend easily on my lid but had improved wear at eight and a half hours before fading a bit.
The current version is much, much lighter and cooler-toned; more of a green-tinged silver/gray compared to a pewter-gray (which may or may not be a good thing).

Aluminum (10M)
Aluminum (10M) is a bright, light silver with neutral-to-cool undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had good pigmentation in a single layer with a slightly dense consistency that felt a touch thicker but wasn’t overly creamy. I found that some of the sparkle diffused too readily away from the base color, which sometimes led to light fallout. The finish was very reflective and seemed to reflect the warmer tones of the shades I placed around it to the point where it didn’t look that silvery! It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading but had a touch of fallout over time.
This shade felt largely unchanged from my original in color, but the finish was more sparkly in the current iteration and felt a bit drier as a result.

Antique Olive (14M)
Antique Olive (14M) is a richer, medium green with warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was dense and firmer in the pan without becoming stiff or difficult to pick up–more like no fallout but excellent adhesion. It applied evenly and blended out with ease along the edges. This shade stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading slightly.
The current version is slightly cooler-toned in its base; there’s a bit more depth that makes it appear cooler-toned at times but still has a more golden sheen. The texture was less creamy, not quite as thick, compared to the original.
