Sephora Black Friday 2019: Preview Coming 11/21

Every year, Sephora’s Black Friday offerings center around various sets, kits, and product exclusives (sometimes in full-size, sometimes in travel-size) that are available for special pricing.  When you search for “black friday” on their app, they’ve put up a notice to check back on November 21st for an exclusive preview of what’s to come (which is how they’ve done in past years as well).

In 2018, Sephora offered around 20 different makeup sets that were $15 or under with values that varied from $9 to $50.  The following brands offered a set during the Black Friday event:  bareMinerals, Becca, Benefit, Buxom, Cover FX, Kat Von D, Lancome, Milk, Pat McGrath, Sephora, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, and Too Faced.

There are also hair, skincare, and hair care sets that are also priced at $15 or under.  The brands that participated last year included: Alterna, bumble and bumble, Caudalie, Clarisonic, Clinique, First Aid Beauty, IT Cosmetics, Jack Black, Lancer, OleHenriksen, Origins, PTR, philsophy, Clean, Nest, Tocca, and Versace.  There were also several Play! by Sephora sets available for $15.

The sets usually launch around midnight PT, though if there’s something you’re anxious for, you might try checking as early as midnight ET. Some of the more popular sets, like philosophy’s Purity Made Simple (which has been offered for a few years as a $15 item with a $30 value), often sell through quite quickly. There are some sets that linger through the weekend, especially as more retailers get on board and offer comparable sets.

Cheer Up MAC Cheer Up Glow Play Blush ($30.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium coral with subtle, pink-leaning and moderately warm undertones paired with a satin sheen. There was very faint and fine pearl throughout, so it didn’t have a full-on matte finish but did not appear overly shimmery either. The texture was smooth to the touch and malleable where I could push against the surface and get a lasting indent, but it didn’t have the traditional wetness of a true cream blush. It felt more like powder once it came into contact with my skin, and I didn’t have issues with the product lifting up base products when I patted this over my liquid foundation. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a fingertip and more semi-sheer, buildable coverage with a brush. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly. The lipstick yielded medium color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and didn’t settle into or emphasize my lip lines, despite being a creamier, more emollient formula.
