Natasha Denona Palette 11 Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Palette 11

Natasha Denona Palette 11 Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.4 oz.) contains three, warmer brownish hues with two green shades. All five shades had some shimmer to them, though the first shade had the least (more of a satin finish). That first shade was also the weakest, and while it lasted better than the original formula, it applied worse and was more effort to use. The other four shades were much improved!

Back story: I purchased all of the 5-pan palettes a few months ago to re-review because if there’s a brand that has a more constant, evolving formula… it is Natasha Denona (the ingredient list is substantially different today compared to the original release and even from a few years ago). I have better experiences with the more updated formulas, so it seemed like a good way to test the current formula as well as get updated swatches. This week, the brand is running buy one, get one free on the 5-pan palettes… so… here we are… frantically reviewing them! Leave a comment with which one of the original 13 you are most desperate to see re-reviewed, and I will endeavor to make it so!

Terracotta (62S)

Terracotta (62S) is a muted, medium brown with strong, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque pigmentation, but the texture was firmer and thinner with some dryness that led to a bit of powderiness. I found it harder to apply it evenly to bare skin, so I had to press and pat it on, which led to some fallout. It lasted well for eight hour son me before fading noticeably.

It was slightly deeper but seemed a little more powdery than the original, though it had better wear overall in the newer formula.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.

The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.

Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Silica, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Bha, Bht. May Contain: Ci 77491 [Iron Oxides], Ci 77891 [Titanium Dioxide], Ci 77499 [Iron Oxides], Ci 77492 [Iron Oxides].

Bottle Green (15M)

Bottle Green (15M) is a medium-dark, forest green with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, emerald green shimmer for a soft, frosted sheen. It had opaque pigmentation but the texture was a bit thinner, so it needed to be used with a heavier hand to pick up product evenly and was best applied in pressing/patting motions. It lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly on me.

It was slightly richer and deeper in color with shimmer that twinkled a bit more noticeably, but they were very similar in color and finish overall. The texture seemed a bit better, but it wasn’t as improved as I expected.

Ochre (61P)

Ochre (61P) is a light-medium, golden bronze with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque color payoff that applied well to bare skin as the powder went on evenly and blended out easily along the edges. The texture was smooth to the touch, dense without being too firmly-pressed into the pan (so no powderiness but still picked up well with a brush), and was easy to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

The color was lighter and had a slightly yellower tone to it, rather than a warmer, reddish-bronze base. The texture still felt lightly creamy, but it was definitely not as emollient or as heavy as the original formula.

Emerald Green (16M)

Emerald Green (16M) is a brighter, medium green with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was lightly creamy, moderately dense but not too firmly pressed into the pan, and it applied beautifully to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of opaque coverage in a single layer. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

It is slightly brighter, and it had better coverage with a more metallic finish. The texture was still very smooth and blendable, but it didn’t feel as cream-like compared to the original formula (though I noticed that my actual pan, by touch, seemed much drier after three years).

Satin Tan (58P)

Satin Tan (58P) is a soft, muted brown with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented, while the texture was soft, smooth, and dense without being too firm or too thick (where it would be harder to pick up or to apply). It lasted nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed signs of fading.

The texture was different as it wasn’t as creamy as the original, but it had better adhesion and longevity.
