Natasha Denona Palette 10 Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Natasha Denona Palette 10 Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.4 oz.) is one of the more improved–across the board–palettes in the newer formula (the ingredient list is quite different than the 2016 versions I have). Both of the mattes were much more pigmented with a lot less fallout, while the shimmers lasted longer on my lid but still applied well and blended out without difficulty.
Back story: I purchased all of the 5-pan palettes a few months ago to re-review because if there’s a brand that has a more constant, evolving formula… it is Natasha Denona (the ingredient list is substantially different today compared to the original release and even from a few years ago). I have better experiences with the more updated formulas, so it seemed like a good way to test the current formula as well as get updated swatches. This week, the brand is running buy one, get one free on the 5-pan palettes… so… here we are… frantically reviewing them! Satin Skin (75P)
Satin Skin (75P) is a soft, golden bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was incredibly smooth, dense without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan, and was blendable and easy to work with on my lid. It had rich color coverage that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.
The newer formula seems to be a bit less cream-like but still applied evenly and blended out well.

Formula Overview

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Vintage (49M) (2019)
Vintage (49M) (2019) is a medium, taupe-brown with neutral-to-cool undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too densely nor too loosely-pressed into the pan. It picked up well and adhered evenly to bare skin. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading slightly on me.
The newer formula was cooler-toned, lighter, and more of taupe hue. The texture was also a bit firmer, thinner, but not in a bad way, just less emollient.

Aubergine (24V)
Aubergine (24V) is a deep, purpled burgundy with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, while the texture was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but it wasn’t prone to sheering out when applied to bare skin. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.
The texture was more substantial with significantly less powder kicked up in the pan; it felt closer to the typical mattes in current Natasha Denona larger-format palettes but not quite as nice as the Creamy Matte finish. The color changed substantially–it was deeper but much warmer in tone.

True Gold (20M) (2019)
True Gold (20M) (2019) is a bright, pale gold with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one layer paired with a slightly dense texture that was lightly creamy but not too thick or too heavy, so it adhered with minimal fallout. It lasted well for eight and a half hours but had a touch of fallout over time.
The color was completely different, though tonally, they were both “cooler” gold shades. The newer one is a pale, white gold with a finer, but more twinkling, sparkle and had less fallout.

Nina's Orchid (82V)
Nina’s Orchid (82V) is a light-medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, while the texture was soft, lightly powdery in the pan but adhered evenly and wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily, though it was fairly blendable along the edges. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly on me.
The performance was substantially improved; the newer formula is a lot less powdery, which gave it better adhesion and application, so it actually yielded near opaque coverage rather than sheering out immediately.
